Red Velvet Cake

This red velvet cake is divine. You are going to love it so much, you will want to laminate the recipe!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups cake flour

  • 3 tbs. unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp. baking powder

  • 1tsp. salt

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 2 tbs. red food colouring

  • 1 tsp. white vinegar

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter at room temperature

  • 2 large eggs

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 F

  • Sift and combine all dry ingredients in a medium bowl.

  • Whisk buttermilk, food colouring, vinegar and vanilla in small bowl until blended

  • On stand mixer combine sugar and butter until light and fluffy.

  • Add eggs 1 and a time, beating well between additions

  • Beat in wet and dry ingredients in additions, alternating between the two.

  • Bake for 30 min. or until toothpick comes out smooth.
